Bottle decor - 5 best ideas for creating a small piece of art

If after any festive event you still have a beautiful glass bottle - do not rush to send it to the scrap, believe me, it will still come in handy. For example, it can make an excellent vase or just an original accessory that decorates the room. I will tell you below how to create a unique bottle decor with your own hands without any special financial costs.

How to create an original and unusual bottle?

It seems to me that decorating is good for absolutely everyone. This is both a way to create a stylish little thing without spending money on expensive materials (you can decorate with everything that comes to hand), and an opportunity to feel like a real artist, showing all your imagination to decorate glass. In addition, it is a great soothing and peaceful pastime.

I have selected some of the simplest options for decorating bottles, which even those who have never done hand-made can easily cope with. About them below.

Idea 1. Salt

When I said that you can decorate a bottle with your own hands from almost everything that is in the apartment, I was not joking. Did you know that regular kitchen salt is a great decorating tool? How best to use it - now I'll tell you.

There are two options for decorating glass products with salt. I will share with you both.

Method 1

For this option you will need:

  • salt;
  • the bottle itself
  • heat-resistant dishes;
  • fork and sieve;
  • kitchen funnel;
  • acrylic paint.

Mix the salt with the paint of your loved one and knead the resulting slurry well with a fork. In a heat-resistant dish, send the mixture to an oven preheated to 100 degrees for about an hour.

After the allotted time, remove the bowl, knead the salt again with a fork and sift it through a sieve. Thus, you will get, as it were, small crystals of colored sand. Make several different types of mixtures by changing the color of the paint.

To make your craft look even more original, feel free to combine and mix shades with each other, thereby creating an unusual color scheme.

With the help of a funnel, start adding salt one by one, alternating shades in layers. After filling the vessel to the top, simply cork it with a decorative stopper and put it in a conspicuous place.

Method 2

Another easy way to decorate a bottle with salt involves using regular rubber bands and white paint. The only condition is that their width should be more than 5 mm.

Wrap a few rubber bands on the bottle in random order, cover the glass with a layer of paint. After it dries, treat the surface with glue. Sprinkle a sufficient amount of salt on a sheet of plain paper and, as it were, roll the accessory in it.

Make sure that the salt evenly covers the product, then remove the gum. As a result, you will get a fabulous decorative bottle, literally covered with a layer of snow. This decor option will be a wonderful decoration for the New Year holidays or for those who miss winter.

You can do without the use of elastic bands - then the impromptu "snow" will cover the glass in an even layer.

Idea 2. Decoupage

This decorating method is a bit more complicated than the previous one, but the effect is really amazing.

So, in addition to a beautifully shaped bottle, you will need:

  • acrylic paint in white and a couple of other shades;
  • brushes of various shapes and sizes;
  • PVA glue;
  • napkin for decoupage with your favorite pattern;
  • acetone;
  • cotton wool;
  • eggshell;
  • coating varnish.

The sequence of actions is extremely simple:

  1. Clean the bottle from the labels, rinse it and degrease the surface with acetone.
  2. With a small piece of sponge covered with white paint, paint the entire bottle except for the bottom with dotted movements. It should be treated after the rest of the surface has dried.
  3. After the first layer has hardened, repeat the procedure.
  4. Separate the top layer of the napkin with the selected pattern from the other two. Attach it to the surface of the bottle and grease with PVA glue. It is necessary to act very carefully, as the napkin is easily torn.
    It is best to coat the material with a fan brush from the center towards the edges.

  1. After that, you need to give the product the desired color. Most often, bottles in the interior have delicate pastel colors, but you can choose any shade you like. Just make sure that it is in harmony with the pattern and does not overlap it.
  2. To add relief and volume to the bottle, I recommend using eggshells. It must be thoroughly washed and cleaned of a thin film, then crushed into many pieces of various shapes and sizes.
  3. Alternately lubricating the surface area with glue, and pressing pieces of the shell to it, process the entire bottle. Next, you should paint it in the color of the product.
  4. After decorating with eggshells, it is necessary to paint over the resulting cracks with a thin brush and a different shade of paint.
  5. At the end, treat the product with varnish and enjoy the result.

It takes more time to decorate a bottle using decoupage technique than other methods, however, in the end you will get a unique and stylish vase or decorative element. By the way, you can decorate the neck with beautiful satin ribbons or lacing.

Idea 3. Gypsum

You can create texture and add relief with the help of, what would you think? Gypsum!

Yes, modern craftswomen even with gypsum manage to work wonders.

And let me tell you, the result is worthwhile:

  1. Mix gypsum with water, a tablespoon of PVA glue to a creamy consistency.
  2. Next, you will need a small fabric flap: gauze, chintz or cotton.
  3. Dip the fabric in a plaster solution and attach it to the bottle, giving it a relief texture.
  4. Paint the surface with white acrylic paint.
  5. Next, we proceed in the same way as I described in the previous section on the decoupage technique. Attach the selected pattern and process it with glue.
  6. We paint the bottle in the desired color and wait for it to dry. After we process the edges of the formed folds with mother-of-pearl and apply a layer of varnish.

Idea 4. Threads

A bottle decorated with threads will add warmth and comfort to your home interior.

It is incredibly easy to make, all you need is threads of any size and color, as well as double-sided tape.

  1. Tape the bottle from the neck to the bottom with double-sided tape.
  2. Start wrapping the product with thread. Make sure that each new row fits snugly against the previous one and does not form gaps.
  3. Feel free to combine thread colors. The brighter the shades, the more original the final result will be.

I also want to note that instead of adhesive tape, it is quite possible to use ordinary PVA glue. Then each thread should be thoroughly moistened with glue and only then applied to the glass surface.

In a similar way, you can create decor with twine. In conclusion, it would be appropriate to decorate the product with cute buttons or beads, gluing them to the material with special glue.

Idea 5. Cereals and pasta

Agree, using pasta as a decorative element is quite an interesting and unusual idea.

To create such a non-trivial decoration, you will also need some peas, cereals, a hot glue gun and acetone.

  1. Degrease the bottle with acetone and grease it with glue.
  2. Glue peas to the bottom of the bottle, use several types of cereals a little higher for decoration. By combining them, create a pattern on the surface.
  3. Divide the bow-shaped pasta into 4 parts. Using a heat gun, connect them into a small flower, use a small pea instead of a core. In random order, glue the resulting flowers to the bottle.
  4. As a final touch, paint the entire pattern with gold paint.

Believe me, in the end, no one you know will guess what your stylish bottle is made of.

Results

In fact, I have listed only the most popular and simple options for decorating glass products. You can give a second life to a bottle of wine or champagne with an appliqué, nylon tights, mesh, beads or even toilet paper - all that is at hand.

Decorating glass products is a great way to use all your imagination to the maximum and show all your talents and abilities.

We make such a rare wine bottle.

We will need: - actually, a bottle (cleaned and laundered from all stickers); - eggshell (you must first remove the inner films from it - this is easier to do in running cold water); - PVA glue; - wide flat brush (preferably synthetic); - napkins for decoupage; - a toothpick or a thin wooden stick; - white acrylic paint; - paint of a contrasting color (in my case it is brown); - varnish for the top coat (in my case it is a regular parquet varnish). Well, everything seems to be. I immediately warn you that the work, in principle, is simple, but in terms of pasting the bottle with eggshells, it is long and painstaking. Begin? There is a way when glue is smeared on the surface of the object to be decorated and a piece of shell is applied to it, and it is crushed already in place, for example, with the blunt end of a brush or scissors, pushing the resulting small pieces apart with a toothpick ... But for some reason it was uncomfortable for me. I did this: we take the shell, put it on the table,

2.

we immediately crush it into smaller pieces with a simple touch of a finger,

3.

and for work we use these ready-made small fragments.

4.

We glue a small section of the bottle with glue (it is more convenient to start work from above from the neck and move down the circle

5.

With the tip of a toothpick (at the beginning of work, it can be slightly moistened so that pieces of eggshell stick to it more easily, later this will not be needed - from working with glue, the toothpick will become a little sticky and it will not be difficult to pick up the shells) we take a suitable piece of eggshell

6.

and apply to the area smeared with glue,

7.

Press down a little to make it stick better.

8.

And thus, carefully and slowly cover the entire surface of the bottle with the eggshell, except for the bottom.

9.

Let the bottle dry properly and cover it with white acrylic paint.

10.

This is how our bottle looks now - pasted over with a shell and painted with white acrylic.

11.

Then we take brown paint (mixing and diluting the colors, we achieve the desired shade), pour it into a saucer (or any other small dish)

12.

and with an ordinary kitchen sponge for washing dishes, paint over the entire surface of the bottle.

13.

And immediately, until the brown paint has dried, we wipe the bottle, not pressing hard, with a damp, clean cloth.

14.

We do this in order to shade our future "cracks": the paint will be erased from the surface of the shells, and they will remain light, and brown paint will remain in the recesses BETWEEN the shells - these will be our "cracks". Like this:

15.

Let's get down to decoupage. We tear out the fragments suitable for us from the napkin, separate the top layer with the pattern and glue it in the right place. (We tear out, and do not cut out the fragments, because SO the edges of the picture will not be so clear and less noticeable. And glue as follows: put a fragment on the surface of the bottle, apply a drop of glue to the center of the picture and carefully brush the entire drawing We try not to draw in one place several times and not to put too much pressure on the brush so as not to tear the soaked napkin.It is better to start with larger fragments, and then place those that are smaller on the remaining voids).

16.

Here's what we got:

17.

18.

19.

20.

21.

And don't forget the bottle cap :)

22.

When the glue is completely dry, you can cover our work with varnish. At first, I took an aerosol varnish for this purpose. But I didn’t like the result: there is no gloss and shine that I wanted to achieve in the end ...

23.

Therefore, already for the next layer, I used ordinary parquet varnish, bought in a hardware store (and, in my opinion, also in a SOVIET hardware store ;))). But there is one feature here: almost all varnishes for woodworking (including my parquet) give the treated surface some yellowness - one is darker, the other is lighter - but EVERYTHING is yellow. Because this yellowness did not interfere with my motive at all, I took parquet varnish. But if you need an exceptionally transparent and colorless coating, then you should buy something from acrylic varnishes - it is better to consult the seller in the store.

24.

How many layers of varnish I got, to be honest, I did not count. But probably something like five.

25.

26.

27.

28.

30.

And this is what our finished work looks like.

Decoupage of eggshell bottles - master class. Technique decoupage eggshell easy to perform and requires a minimum set of materials used. And what a wonderful end result!

The eggshell is glued with PVA glue on a previously cleaned surface, and after drying, the work looks like a network of cracks, a bit reminiscent of craquelures made with special varnishes. Of course, the shell cannot replace special two-component craquelure varnishes. But when sticking, it gives the surface of the product an unusual texture and volume.

This decoration technique - eggshell helps out when on the surface of the workpiece (glass bottle, jar or tea tin box, even a jewelry box is suitable, for example http://dom-podarka.ru/catalog/interior-decorations/boxes/casket /) there is some raised image, say, the logo of a manufacturing company, which needs to be somehow masked. The shell glued on top hides the bulges or defects of the working surface as well as possible. Decoupage. eggshell mashing cracks.

Shell preparation

Preparing the shell for gluing is very simple. First, I wash the shell of a fresh egg, then very carefully remove the film located on the inside, after which we let the shell dry thoroughly.

Decorating process

Now you can proceed directly to decorating. Most clearly egg shell wrapping process looks on the glass surface. So let's take as an example.

1. The work surface should be thoroughly degreased and cleaned of dirt. You can use a glass cleaner for this purpose.

2. Now the place where the shell is supposed to be glued is generously coated with PVA glue. It is better to use PVA glue for work, which is sold in hardware stores in large jars. It differs significantly in quality from ordinary stationery glue.

3. While the glue is not dry, lay out the pieces of prepared eggshell on it. If they are too large, they need to be lightly pressed down with your finger so that they crack into smaller pieces. It is very important that the pieces of shell to be glued are as little convex as possible and adhere well to the surface. If the shell is too convex, it must be crushed.

4. Then, the pieces of the shell laid out on the glue need to be slightly moved apart so that gaps form between them, the size of which depends only on your desire. This is easy to do with a toothpick.

5. Do not cover with glue immediately a very large part of the surface of the product. It is much more convenient to work on a small area of \u200b\u200bthe working surface, gradually filling the entire intended space with glued shells.

6. After the shell is glued, you need to let the glue dry. And then apply a second layer of PVA for fixation. This time, we do not need excess glue. Try not to fill the space between the shells with glue, otherwise, after priming with paint, the effect of cracks will not be clearly expressed.

7. When the surface of the product is completely dry, you can start priming the surface. We apply acrylic paint with a foam sponge in 2 layers with intermediate drying. This is enough to completely paint over the pieces of the shell and the gaps between them.

The glued eggshell perfectly adheres not only to non-glass, but also to any other surfaces, so you can combine this eggshell with decoupage technique. On the example of this simple work, you can see how you can use eggshells to decorate a surface, subsequently decorated with decoupage.

In this technique, this foam blank for the box is decorated.

Creative success to you!

I would be grateful for a retweet article and / or

Easter is coming, which means that every home will have a lot of colored eggs. So, it's time to learn a new needlework technique: eggshell crafts.

Eggshells are a great material for creativity. And we offer you two options for its use:

Materials and tools for eggshell crafts

  • eggshell
  • pva glue and brush
  • thick cardboard or other surface (box, vase, etc.)
  • tweezers
  • a small wooden stick, for pressing the shells (a manicure stick is great)
  • acrylic paints if the mosaic is made from white shell
  • decoupage napkin (if needed)

First you need to prepare the material. To do this, the collected eggshells are washed in warm water (and for better degreasing, you can even lower them into boiling water with a soda solution). After that, the shell must be dried, the inner film removed from it and sorted by color.

Professionals use shells from raw eggs, because the shell that has undergone heat treatment loses its hardness, its surface becomes more loose. But for children's crafts, you can use any shell, including those left over from boiled Easter eggs.

eggshell mosaic

To make an eggshell mosaic with your own hands, you will need a template for the future drawing. If you have artistic abilities, then simply draw a template on a piece of paper. If not, you can take any drawing intended for coloring in children. All contours are clearly drawn there and usually a large number of colors are not required. Glue the sheet with the pattern on thick cardboard.

Now we start gluing the shell. To do this, grease a small fragment of the picture with PVA glue and put a piece of shell on top. If the shell is too large, then you just need to press on top with a stick, the shell will crack and fall apart into several small pieces. Make sure that there is approximately the same distance between the shells.

Having filled one fragment of the picture, we move on to the next.

After filling the entire pattern, set it aside until the glue has completely dried. If you used a white shell, then only after drying, the drawing can be painted with acrylic paints.

Finished work must be varnished. The result is a kind of eggshell appliqué.

See what wonderful paintings made of eggshells by real craftswomen!

If you decide to do decoupage using eggshells, then first select a blank for future crafts. It can be a box, a key holder, a bottle and even a vase.

Master class on decoupage on an eggshell wooden box

This box is wooden, so first we sand the entire surface (both internal and external) with sandpaper. If you have taken up the decoupage of a bottle with an eggshell, then the surface must first be degreased with alcohol.

It depends only on you how large the pieces of the shell will be and the distance between them.

We fill the entire surface in this way.

And once again cover everything with a layer of PVA glue.

After that, we cover the entire workpiece in several layers with white acrylic paint.

And we proceed to gluing the napkin, that is, directly to the decoupage itself.

Let me remind you that three-layer napkins are usually used for decoupage. We only need the top layer - the one on which the drawing. Lubricate the work surface with PVA glue. If the surface is very large, or you are working with rounded objects (a vase, a bottle), then it is better to cut the napkin into two or three fragments. We apply a napkin element to the surface and immediately apply PVA glue on top. We draw a brush from the center to the edges to expel the air from under the napkin.

Thus, we glue the box on all sides.

Set aside for a while to dry completely.

And then - two options (depending on your imagination). The finished work can simply be varnished. And you can also age the box. To do this, you can ask the shells with silver acrylic paint, and apply black pastel to the edges of the box with a foam sponge.

Now, most needlewomen are fond of decoupage, namely, they decorate various items with paper appliqué. And, to be more precise, the decorations are made from special decoupage napkins, which are sold in a wide range on the shelves of specialized stores designed for needlework. Decoupage technique is done on many things made of wood, metal and plastic. But, the most popular is decoupage on glass, or rather decoupage of bottles.
Every housewife will always have an empty glass container, for example, jars for bulk products, intended for throwing into the trash, from the prescription of use. Do not rush to do it yourself. You can try to remake a completely unnecessary little thing into an interesting vase, which, in the future, will decorate your interior, for example, in a marine style. Especially when author's ideas are much more valued than factory decoupage on glass.

Not only used alcohol bottles are subject to decoration, but also other glass objects that have lost their appearance. Decoupage of a vase will be very relevant.

Now we do the usual decoupage for beginners. Attach the cut out circles from the napkin to the bottle and anoint them with decoupage glue. After the glue dries, we can assume that the master class is over, but that's not all. It is necessary to decorate the ornament with an acrylic outline or glitter, circling them around the picture, as shown in the photo.

In the center of the bottle, make an inscription by the eighth of March, it will come in handy. When the green glitter dries, it will shimmer beautifully. Cover all the work done with acrylic varnish, which will give an incredible shine. Now, a festive bottle of champagne is ready to decorate the table on the eighth of March. And at this time, it is necessary to continue the eggshell master class and start cutting out pictures from napkins in the decoupage style. Put the pictures on a stationery file and blot them with water. With meticulous movements, place it on the main part of the bottle. The following manipulations take place in the same way as for beginners, using glue and brushes. The blank remains to dry for one day.

To apply glue to paper, you need a thin brush. Now, evenly attach the cutouts to the bottle, as shown in the photo. We leave it to dry.

Toilet paper is very thin, so we paint it with white acrylic paint. Large pictures are glued in the central part of the bottle, and small ones on the cap.

After everything is dry, paint the entire light part of the bottle with blue acrylic paint. The next step is painting with a golden color, applying it to a washcloth.

Twist from a napkin, thin bundles and paint them in gold. When they dry, you need to make an ornament out of them and stick them on the bottle. After that, the entire surface is varnished. Decoupage of a glass bottle, safely made with your own hands, toilet paper.

Now, you need toilet paper, with which we will decorate the bottle. Wet the paper in glue and attach it to the bottle, making small folds. This procedure must be done very quickly. After that, the craft will take on a three-dimensional look. Tear out a suitable motif from a decoupage card and glue it on PVA glue. The photo shows the result. Leave the bottle to dry for about 6 hours.

Take acrylic paint of the same color as shown in the photo. Apply it on the surface, but not on the whole, but in parts to make the craquelure more spectacular. Apply craquelure and wait for about two hours. Then, cover the product with light acrylic paint. Paint over those metas where the toilet paper lies, also in white.

After drying, the bottle is covered with a finishing varnish, as shown in the photo. The voluminous master class on this is over. If you want to learn how reverse decoupage on glass or decoupage of bottles with napkins is done, we suggest watching a video showing work on a nautical-style bottle.
